There was once a man who considered himself to be a devout follower of the way; the way of the Tao. He studied the philosophy and teachings of Lao-Tzu, and spent over half his life living in accordance with the Tao in order to find balance in life. He believed in his own potential to reach the immortal state and become one with the way (Tao). But despite all his efforts, and after yet another year passed, he never felt closer to what he desired to attain. The way always seemed to elude him and it never gave him what he so desperately sought.
Until he met Jesus.
To him, Jesus was different. When he gave his life to Christ, he was amazed that what he worked so hard to attain all those years was available to him in an instant: peace, joy, and love. He found the promises of The True Way are not based on vague hopes for a distant future but, rather, he could experience them in the here and now, and he never wanted to go back.
Maybe you find yourself searching as well. Have you found the things you are looking for? Or has another year passed and, instead, all you have found is yourself in the same exact place as before? Have you met Jesus? If not, ask Him today to meet you where you are and He will show you The Way.
God, I am so tired of treading water and working so hard only to find that I haven't moved anywhere. Or worse yet, have found myself moving backward. Help me! Rescue me! Only through You can I find what I seek.
