It has been a little over a year since the world has been rocked from the COVID-19 crisis. In the beginning of the pandemic, many will remember seeing eerie images and scenes of very popular, highly dense cities and squares all over the globe deserted and desolate; as if all of humanity simply vanished.
The world-wide event has sparked the imaginations of writers everywhere penning harrowing tales of dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction. The Books of Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah and Revelation are no strangers to this kind of literary style as they are traditionally identified as biblical apocalyptic literature.
In these four books, the world is sharply divided between good and evil in which these forces rise to a significant heightening. But in each book, God’s presence is known and felt and symbols of His protection for His people are contained throughout. The purpose of this genre is to encourage the reader to be calm in adversity and confident in the coming of the Messiah and His deliverance.
Has your world been rocked lately? Do you find yourself in the midst of a trial and tribulation? God knows and He sees what you have been experiencing and what You are going through. Ask God to help you and trust in His deliverance.
God, the world can be scary place. There are so many things happening externally, as well as internally, that sometimes I feel I am on the verge of a breakdown. Help me remember how You have helped me in the past and to continue trusting in You.
Zechariah 6:1;8 – “…and I saw in front of me four chariots coming out from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze… Look! the [horses] going to the land in the north have given my Spirit rest in the north country.”
