There is something that everyone has experienced at some point in time, and that is the sting of disappointment. Whether that disappointment stems from a mistake that we have made ourselves, or whether it comes from someone that is very close to us, the cut can be deep and painful. A word or action from someone else can cause dark emotions of fear and anger begin to rise to the surface within us, and we may be tempted to lash out in order to keep our hearts guarded and protected.
But instead of beating yourself up over a mistake you made, or lashing out at someone else for something they said, why not first talk to God about it? He is there for you always and ready to hear about your struggles, concerns, and fears. Tell Him what is bothering you, and that you need help in order to change a certain situation, or the help to give you a different perspective.
Whether another fellow believer hurts and disappoints you or whether it is yourself, extend some grace to them or you. We are growing and learning every day, and we are all bound to make mistakes along the way. Ask God to help you forgive, and pray for His guidance regarding the situation. Ask the Holy Spirit to be your Guide and Protector and then pick yourself up and keep moving forward in faith.
God, I was really hurt by what someone said. It's hard for me not to think about it and not get more angry about it. Please help me practice grace to this person and please heal my hurt and calm my fears.
